Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is against the law. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many conveniences accompanying the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
