Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, in which casino wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that contains many conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 table games.
